A long awaited climb...

Once again hit with the same question as last year for this race. To Race or Not To Race? Last year i withdrew because of my ankle injury and this year is the flu bug that stuck with me for the past few days.

The strong desire to race after two years of waiting vs the dangers of racing with the bug!

Ans: Race!!

Taking the risk, thankfully i'm still here blogging about the joy of finishing it alive! It was a great experience being on the stairs racing once again. Being black face at the start point as all may know, the all black one, chionging at the blow of the horn. The journey up was quite fun and my aim was to overtake as many as possible not bad manage to overtake about 15 people or more only there's one girl "all red one wearing the skirt". Overtook her at the 50th storey and was quite happy, hey, she was a pusher not very pleasured that i overtook her so she climb even harder. After awhile i couldn't push too hard so let her go first in the end but glad that i even caught up with her as she was four wave in front of me. Haha... To the finish line as happy as one can be.

We always say results doesn't matter but in the end it really matters alot. A easy thing to say but a hard one to swollow. After knowing the results, coming in 7th with the timing of 13:33 minutes and the top 3 came in within my personal best timing of 12 ++ minutes. Disappointed initially because i knew i miss out on that because i failed to take care of my own health. A important lesson learnt this year in showing me my areas of weakness and i realise that it's something i want but not working as hard to get it.

Next year, i'm not going to get my foot into everything but focus on vertical marathon! Not letting it slip by again. Glad to know that this is the best my body can push for today and it's a great reward being up there. Results will come another day.

One half marathon down and the FULL is on its way!

Great weather for running today, cloudy sky, cool breeze and great running kaki to go along with it. Today a new friend came along to run with us to clock our 21km run, Dinesh, all the way down to Changi Coastal Road and back. Haha... Super fun observing those around us while we run, that's what make the run interesting. GOSSIPING! We ran pass a couple on a double bike, the bf was pedalling with all his might to move the bike while his happy gf enjoys the view with her legs on the top. Gone with the honeymoon days, go girls, let the guys work out those muscules and make them fitter.

Good thing about running long distance in ECP is that there are still waterpoints along the way.We stopped at National Sailing Centre for a drink and stretch. Hahah... See my two friends the security guard came up to us but lucky I knew the uncle after been there for a few years hopping off my father's car while he waits for my brother and waving to him while i hit the road. It does pays off being nice to others. Happy we got our drink before going down to Changi and hit the turn to the traffic light and turned back.

The turning point certainly was a psychological barrier from some, know that there was still a return trip back means "Oh no there still a long way back." That's why I love bring friends on a surprise runs that start from one place and end off at a different one because they do not know where the end point is just enjoy the run and the view.

Running is about enjoying the view, the friends and the run!

Hole In One

Golfing Session! It's a hole in Two instead of one.

There's two lobangs(Blisters) on my fingers after wacking the balls off the range. Hey Golf is quite fun! Initially balls are just rowing off the mat and down to the ground level. Wasting the balls but after a few swings they are off flying into the sky though not as far as the ones Benard hits. According to the instructor Mr Tay we were quite good first timer. Haha...

Golf is a rich man sport.
1. You need a country club membership
2. Equipment costing 10k per set.
I think it's worth picking up the sport especially if you're a business person and totally a good way of relaxing or venting the anger. Get the swing right first in order to do that. That will be the next sport i'll pick up when the money allows. Hahaha...

Now it's time to concentrate on running and Time to hit the road again!

We are the Champion!

Time to play volleyball!! This is the only time I'll play competitively for this year. Why? Cause this team is super fun to play with and we always win for the 5th consecutive year or maybe more. Been in the team for 4 years but the others has been playing longer. Even though this is the 4th year playing together but it's also only the 4th time i'm playing with this team. Unlike the other team we only meet once a year to play without any training. That's how good they are, if you know the volleyball scene maybe you will know why and it's an honor to play with them.

This year like i say it's my only time playing volleyball the legs are too tune to running that it was a hard time staying low and move for the ball. A lot of it went flying BUT manage to end the whole final game with a spike. Haha...Shiok!

Qualification Vs Knowledge

One last year in our PE course and doing sports science, set upon reflection of the qualification we have but are we really ready for the world out there. Just speaking to a friend who did sports science in UK, we were discussing about the sports science course there and the course I'm doing. OMIGOSH! The things that we are learning are just merely the bare bare basic that only touches on the surface of sports science. I feel that properly for PE lesson and math lesson yes, we have a foundation built over the four years but if the school were to ask me to start coaching and come out with a training program den i will feel that the knowledge learned is inadequate relating to sports science. Suddenly I feel lost trying to put the different puzzle together but still having missing pieces to the big picture. Big picture is to come out with a training plan for my team. So to find these pieces means it READING TIME this holiday.

Running For a Purpose

Just looking back at the past few months of my life, it been a tough roller coastal ride. Having gone through two operations (1st is in 2006 and 2nd this may), sister going into depression and tmr my father going for his operation to remove his tumor. It seems like everything is going the other way around.

Looking from the time of my 2nd operation to now and looking at my family, the difficult times have bought my family closer from a family of 5 individual to a family of 5. In the past, i hardly communicate with my parents and seldom sharing with them about my life. But recently it taught me to open up more to them and enjoying spending time with them.

The two operation also showed me that life can be easily taken away that i'm still here though some lost had to be made. I'm glad to be given life again. I want to live it and to run it. Thus, it a dedication to the one above

Running Trip in the East

Suppose to meet my junior this morning for a run at Bedok Reservoir but she didn't turn up!! Must be pigging away that's why and she didn't reply till now. Must be too pai seh.

When you got to run you got to run, no matter how lazy those feet are and how much it complain they got to get going cause the Boss say so. Normally, it's the first step that is the hardest one but after that just falls in motion. Since i'm out let's hit the road and start those engine for a long run ahead. Ran to the reservoir and up the hill, hey it's a pretty nice view looking over the whole reservoir with Bedok on its side and Tampines at its back. Next time i'll bring my camera and post the picture of my next running trip. From the hill i ran using the Siglap park connector to Anusha's house. Initially, wanted to take back my driving license but she's still sleeping too. Must be a tiring day, people are sleeping and resting. Why am I out running? I love it that why... Stopping at 7 11 for a drink and hit the road again now down to Siglap road to TJ and back to Bedok Reservoir.

Tampines --> Bedok Reservoir --> Siglap --> Bedok Reservoir --> Tampines

Changi maybe my next run trip location. I'm going out to explore the east!
